For several years now, there has been growing conflict between the staff and moderators of Club Penguin and the CP Army community. They have made it harder for us to recruit, forcing armies to get creative with how they get recruits to their sites. They blocked famous lines that armies would use in battle, and they have banned our penguins and our backup penguins. Now, it seems like Club Penguin is taking another step, and are in the process of banning all army names. This was first brought to our attention in a post Waterkid made on LT site when he found out something unusual on CP. Club Penguin blocked the ”Light Troops” on CP and I emailed them asking them why. They said we were advertising which is against the rules, so I demanded they block ALL army names too. They agreed. Now, lots of armies might get angry at Waterkid for asking Club Penguin to block all army names, but if the phrase “Light Troops” is blocked, it makes it significantly harder for LT to recruit, and either way, Club Penguin was probably already on it’s way to doing so as Waterkid stated next. Waterkid throws the blame on all the Top Ten armies, which in a sense fair. All armies autotype, some in a much larger scale than others, but nonetheless, we do and autotyping is a clear violation of Club Penguin’s rules. Now, don’t get mad at me. This isn’t because of me. It’s because of every single army. You can’t even name ONE top ten army that NEVER auto typed. It was a good run guys, but armies are about to die. We have yet to see how Club Penguin goes about with this, but it truly wouldn’t be very hard for them to do so. They could go even further and simply run through the “Armies” page and remove the name of any major army that has ever existed.
If Club Penguin really does go forward with this, the future really does look grim for armies. Recruiting as we know it will have to drastically change, and I hope we have a mind somewhere in armies who is smart enough to find out how to recruit and still be able to exclude army names. Waterkid does claim that armies are about to die, but I still truly believe it is a long road until that is to happen. When there is a will, there is a way, and there have been too many people who have built this community up, and I doubt they will let it die easy. So, tell me what you think of Club Penguin’s announcement. Do you think Waterkid made the situation worse by emailing Club Penguin or do you think it was only fair? Comment what YOU think of this shocking topic, and as always, thank you for reading.
